One of the most prestigious and pleasant addresses to have in San Diego County would have to be at Coronado Cays, an eclectic collection of upscale homes located on the bay side of Coronado's Silver Strand. The Cays are condominiums and single family homes located about 4 miles south, down the Silver Strand from the "Hotel Del". The "Cays”, an affectionate local reference, is comprised of numerous inlets and peninsulas, each uniquely designed to reflect the architecture and atmosphere of Caribbean vacation spots.

Most homes feature boat slips and the center of the subdivision is the Coronado Cays Yacht Club. Many of the homes within this gated community have their own docks for boats ranging to 60' located just steps from their doors. This is the only community south of Newport beach to possess such a feature.
In 1969 Signal Landmark Development Company had a vision of a marina-esque community to be developed adjacent to the Silver Strand State Beach. The Cays is comprised of 8 "Villages" that are exclusive to their own groups of residences and not intermixed by traffic from other Villages. Each Village has access to a club house and pool, and the Montego Condominiums are gated.
The Villages are:
- Green Turtle Cay
- Montego Bay Villas
- Jamaica Village
- Bahama Village
- Antigua Village
- Kingston Village
- Trinidad Village
- Blue Anchor Cay
- Port Royal Village
- Mardi Gras Village
The last of the villages were completed in 1995.
Centered in Coronado Cays is the yacht club, which offers a host of functions, a working marina and fabulous clubhouse. There are many events and activities at the Coronado Cays Yacht Club.
Tennis courts, open space for activities and dogs, city fire department and security patrols complete some of the additional on-site amenities offered.
