Homes in Coronado showcase the many different building styles which reflect the changing time, yet many seem to belong to a bygone era. Coronado has approximately 25,000 residents, but each area within Coronado has a distinct style and personality. Here is a description of some of the neighborhoods which comprise Coronado, and some representative homes you might find in those areas.

The Coronado Village - Quaint cottages and bungalows mix with eclectic custom homes. The core of the village was built in the 1920's and has seen many fine new homes built in the 1930's, 1940's, 1950's and even a few to this today. It is an extremely desirable area, and homes in the Coronado village have a very special and unique character, making them among the most desirable properties to own in all of San Diego County.

North of Orange Avenue - Towards NAS North Island there are many simpler dwellings, and these homes may range from $650,000 to $2 million on streets branching off of H, I, J and Alameda Streets. Prairie style and bungalow homes that line the quiet residential streets just a few blocks from the bustle of Orange Avenue.

South of Orange Avenue - Towards the Bay Bridge and the golf course, there are many upscale neighborhoods occupied by retired Navy Admirals and well-known celebrities. These fine classic structures represent a long history of home building evolution. The houses along streets like Guadalupe, Margarita, and Adella often reflect Victorian or traditional architecture. Since the 1930's hundreds of new homes have been built in varying architectural styles, but they all share the same tradition and ambience with the other timeless houses in Coronado. The varied styles styles include Victorian, English Tudor, craftsman, modern, Mediterranean, French provincial, ranch, oriental, post-1950 contemporary, New England colonial, antebellum southern, and Spanish colonial architecture – all styles which have made this area very exceptional. Leading American architects designed the wonderful variations of residential architecture seen in these neighborhoods.

Coronado Shores - Adjacent to the Hotel Del, many high rise residential buildings units called Coronado Shores. There are 10 separate buildings in the Coronado Shores. The exterior is post modern, and many of the interiors are sleek and elegant modern designs which emphasize the great sweeping views seen through the oversize windows. The units include penthouses, views of the ocean, sand and whitewater to give the feeling of being on the water.

Coronado Cays - There are many "villages" in the Coronado Cays, each with its own character. Some of the villages feature town homes in a row, others are large waterfront mansions. All of them share a special relationship with the water and the lifestyle associated with the San Diego Bay.
