Coronado offers a wide range of leisure activities that include an 18 hole golf course,19 tennis courts, public marina, 15 miles of bike and rollerblading paths and two theaters. One of the most charming areas is Glorietta Baywith a harbor that hosts many yachts and boats, just across from the famous Hotel Del Coronado. The Glorietta Bay Marina is the smallest and the only marina owned by the city. As part of the $9 million Glorietta Bay Marina and Promenade Project, the city has recently replaces the shoreline-protecting rocks, dredged portions of the marina, and rebuilt the marina building and two of its three main docks. The Glorietta Bay Launch Ramp is a small ramp with limitied resources, small parking spaces but a great view and offers access for boaters. Jet skis, personal watercraft, sailboats and other small ocean vehicles can be launched from this ramp.
The Coronado Golf Course. This public course features 18 holes with backdrop of Glorietta Bay, San Diego-Coronado Bridge and the Hotel del Coronado. Driving range, pro shop, grill and meeting rooms available. (619) 435-9485.
Glorietta Bay Beach - Located South of the Hotel del Coronado and City Hall, the Glorietta Bay Beach offers a unique view of the Glorietta Bay and the San Diego- Coronado Bridge. With a large grass-filled park, restrooms, playground equipment, and a small beach area, the Glorietta Bay Beach can provide hours of fun, and a relaxing time for all individuals.
Glorietta Bay Park is located on the inland side of the island with Pacific Ocean directly accessible just a few blocks away on this narrow stretch of land. Not far from the park you can see the Hotel del Coronado and downtown shops. Also at the park are great facilities such as beautiful restrooms, picnic tables, kids playgrounds and huge grass lawns for children to romp and play.
For the perfect lunch, pack up a picnic basket and sit in the shade overlooking the expansive bay and Coronado Bay Bridge, a huge, sweeping structure that connects San Diego mainland to Coronado Island. Vacationers love to sit and watch the boats sail through the bay, gaze at the beautiful San Diego skyline seen from the park and look at the towering bridge.
There's a public bus that stops near the park so you can access it easily without a long walk from most destinations. According to the City of Coronado, the enforced curfew at Glorietta Bay Park is 11 p.m. to 5: a.m.
